When the Brake Pad Wear Light Comes On...
... how much more safe driving can you do?
... how many miles should be on the clock?
Mine ('03 MC) just winked on for the first time after 22,000 gentle street miles. Is that a fair life for the first set of pads?
Oh, and has anyone had warranty issues over switching to EBC greens? Are they compatible with the pad wear sensors?
Thanks very much.

Brakes -
Wow, you're using the wrong pedal. My light just came on my 04MCS with almost 44K. I just got a set of Mintex Reds from Eric at Helix. Plan on installing them tonight.

This is what my front pads looked like after 32,000 miles
I've got the Mintex Red Box pads and they support the brake pad sensor on the fronts only, not the rear. Not sure about EBC pads though. I think it's the same.
What I discovered was that once I learned how to replace my own pads, I understood how to tell when it was time to change them, and now every time I rotate, I just inspect the pads to see if they need changing. The brake sensor is nice, but it's also $16 extra everytime the light comes on!
How easy is it to do a brake job?
Well depends on what you are talking about. If you're just replacing the pads, it's pretty simple. Just follow my writeup.
If you're doing rotors, you'll need a few more tools, but it's still doable. I havne't done a write up although Randy Webb has. I will do a writeup when it comes time to replace mine.
