Look close at the key. That little dent that says Valeo,is the chip.
Kind of fuzzy, but it's right next to the round part.

Pure BS if that is indeed exactly what they said.

Here's a thought... If one person's mustang key went crazy after being washed, maybe there's an issue with moisture. Was it a hot day (moist sweaty pocket) when this happened?

See if it happens again at the same location or under similar circumstances, and check with the dealer.

Well I am not so sure about it being that version of software only, my car did some thing similar once " it would open the locks and roll down the windows + open the sun roof even while driving the car" had to keep my car in the garage until I could take it to the dealer. They recoded the BC1 computer and all has been well, and this was before V39

Was someone trying to steal mini, electrical malfunction or what? But then, I realized that someone else's key or key chain was locking and unlocking my mini .

My first thought was this can't be happening. I must have accidentally hit my key chain by mistake. So I took the key out of my pocket and just set it down. Then it happened again. Mini getting locked and then unlocked and not by me. It was definitely someone else doing the locking and unlocking. From a distance I could see people looking at mini. I tried to figure out who it was exactly but couldn't pin point anyone exactly. By the time I finally walked up to mini... it was completely unlocked. Who ever was doing it stopped when they saw me approach. OK...but now what ..... Anyone else have their mini open by someone else’s key? Is this possible?
This is actually kinda common in a way, so many code but somestimes they can overlap, I can remember countless times I used to go unlock my old car and I would either hear or see someone else's car near by unlock.

Be happy you don't live in Las Vegas! About a year ago the Air Force had a big exercise up on the Nellis ranges north of town. Lots of classified and experimental stuff going on to include plenty of stray electrons. Several hundered auto remotes across the valley quit working, including both sets for the wife's Suburban. Eventually one of them recovered but the other one is completely fried.

incorrect.

get a knife, flip the key to the other side and peel up the1/16th inch thick piece of plastic glued to the back, the chip is inside the head of the key.

Geez I keep getting this key thing wrongWell, I knew the plastic key had a chip in itIn hindsight,it makes sense the chip would be in the fat part:smile:
So I would guess the car rolls the ignition codes, how do the 3 remotes keep up?
