It also helps that the headlights of a Crown Victoria Interceptor are very recognizable in their configuration. That and the bulge from the spotlight above the drivers side mirror. Although lately I've seen different cars being used, most notably a MINIVAN as an unmarked patrolcar in Chicago.
I don't understand how this thread is acceptable. If we discuss a purely street racing thread its removed. How is this different? Because the MINI driver wasn't ticketed?
Isn't revving your engine and taking off fast called "Show of speed" and can be subject to a ticket and fine as well in many staes?

...or not...Actually, you're wrong about the GTO, IMO. It was developed from the Holden Monaro in Australia. It's a very well built car, and ridiculously fast. As for the styling... personally, I like it. It's subtle. There's something to be said for an understated car that looks like any other coupe out there, yet packs 400 HP under the hood! Can you say "factory sleeper"?
The new GTO is anything but a "Bonneville with sport package". Don't even compare it to most other domestic cars... because it's really not. It's Australian.

i was also picked on by a neon... but this dude got a piece of it.
i was at a light and a yellow srt-4 pulls up and starts reving...
so i pulled down my windows and he goes wanna run to the next light?
to what i reply, ok but let roll about 5 mph then go....
the overconfident neon drive was like ok...
(as wel all know a turbo has a nice lag at low RPMs together with someone who does know how to drive a turbo car it can work to your advantage)
so we get moving when the light got green, and after 3 beeps we hit it...
well i double clucht a little to get a little torque going while he just stepped on it
hehe idiot... by the time he rev up to boost i was about 3 cars ahead! and i kept that till the next light..
i wish you guys could of seen the pozzled/idiotic look on his face when he told me wow those little things are fast....
hehehe, little that he knows that i only got him b/c he does not know how to drive...
on a real race with a good drive i would have been smoked...

The Pontiac GTO we get here is built in the same exact assembly line as the Holden Monaro in the land down under. The only differences are the badges. The car is based on an Opel Omega platform and the GTO if anything has more Germanic genes than Gringo ones, with the exception of the V8 engine which is the only US made component in that car.
Have you driven it? Have you sit inside one? Pretty handsome car and the interior beats anything GM makes in Northamerica including Cadillacs.
The GTO is the "sleeper" 4 seater Corvette. You can get a 400HP RWD 6-speed manual GTO for well under $30K or about the same as a fully decked out MCS JCW.
Not bad at all.

But if I'm spending over 30 grand on a sporty car, I want it to look like a sporty car. That's just me. And, the Holden version sold in Australia looks WAY better than what we ended up with over here, as usual. They always ruin the cool concept or foreign versions of vehicles when they release them here. For example, here is the Holden Australian version of our Pontiac!http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/...4&vehicleid=12

Strange rectangular shapes near the roofline or inside the rear window=cop
Abundance of aerial antennas=cop
Spotlight=cop or someone who bought an old cop car at auction.
Well, the GTO has been a sales flop mainly because of its looks. The car resembles too much the old Grand AM/Bonneville and the classic GTO "Purists" totally thrashed the car as not being "Faithful" to the squred off, agreesive lines of the late 1960's original.
The GTO is one of the best kept secrets in the market right now, but too much gas $$$ to fed that thristy 5.7L V8 with 400 horses and all.
At least GM did something about bringing fairly quickly up to market a decent RWD performance coupe, but oo bad they did so late in the game and not well taught out.

A coworker bought a used GTO, last year's model. I was mildly impressed with the car; far more impressive than any other GM product I've seen. She paid $28k or so for the car, used. I didn't have the heart to tell her dealers were blowing out last year's model, brand new on the lot, for less than what she paid used. Ouch.

I have noticed an abundance of these things lately. Are the local law enforncement replacing the entire car fleet?
I swear I see tons of these around lately.

I swear I see tons of these around lately.I saw a story on one of the news stations regarding these units. They're supposed to be huge bargains, especially considering that your're getting a ride with a powerful engine (corvette, if i remember it right).
The other big advantage to having one of these units is that they're VERY easy and relatively cheap to maintain. They were designed for quick repairs, and as such, many of the engine parts can be quickly removed and replaced rather quickly.
...and the fun you can have with that spotlight, dont get me started...
you mean there's a difference between the two?
no offense to any SRT-4 owners out there, but a riced out neon isnt exactly my idea of a sports car. a competitor that can steal away some civic buyers, maybe, but not a sports car. bone stock MCS would probably whip a bone stock SRT-4 in a humiliating way.
