MINI soon-ish

I've been a future MINI owner since my test drive on 8/28/04 at 11:43 AM EST.

The plan is to pay off my Jeep Cherokee and then order a 2006 PW/B MCS. The Cherokee is scheduled to be paid off in 10/2006, but I'm going to shoot for sooner - I owe what its worth. We're keeping it for utility, but I just want out of the payments before I take on the MINI. I've sung this song before, but I enjoy leaving my mark in this forum even if I'm not an owner yet.

How much should I have to deposit to place my order?

Can you recommend a good financial institution? Capital One Auto Finance has already been recommended to me, and looks like a good option.

Deposit amount depends on the dealer. My dealer (Lauderdale MINI) charges a $500 fully refundable deposit for MC/MCS/MCC/MCSC factory orders. Repeat customers receive a waiver and are no longer required to pay the deposit for future orders.

For all my 3 MINI purchases, I have only used Capital One Auto Finance. they are the best and the service is second to none. I highly recommend them!

Two months ago I bought my third MINI, a new 2005 MCS, which I financed for 30 months @ 4% APR. You can also check your local credit union, commercial bank or thrift, but for convenience, low rates and top notch service, Capital One continues to beat them all.

I put $1000 down fully refundable for my MCS. BMW financing @ 5% interest rate. not too shabby.

Is the general rule-of-thumb to purchase at invoice, and if dealer won't sell at invoice, go to another dealer? (despite location)

Is the price generated by the configurator "invoice"?

Can I expect the dealer to offer a trade on a moderately equipped 96 Jeep Cherokee Sport, 120k miles, average condition? (considering private sale)

Sorry about these relatively basic questions. The wheels started to turn in my head, and I have a really bad itch that needs scratched.

The price on the configurator is MSRP or sticker price. That's what you'll pay unless your dealer marks up. THEN you walk away.

Okay - MSRP or walk away. Got it. Thanks!
