Whether you will be able to do the same remotely is still a point of contention. We have no information regarding the 2006 model year MINI Cooper at this time, but as soon as we have informaiton available, it will be posted online at http://www.miniusa.com and given to our MINI dealers."
Sounds to me like they are planning to get rid of the remote comfort opening, but don't want to say it.

For those of you that say it isn't working I wonder if you could try something for me.
Try gettting in the car and closing all the doors. Hold the unlock toggle switch for a few seconds and see if the windows open. This works on my car, but so does the remote thing. I think to get the toggle to do it I had to have the keys in the ignition. Maybe it was in the on position or not. I can't remember. Not that this wouild help much for clearing a hot car...

Okay, now I'm confused....
I thought my dealer had inactivated convenience opening as requested, but I can hold down the key remote and open windows and sunroof, so I guess they didn't do it.
But...I cannot open windows and sunroof using the key in the lock as described in this thread. However, I can close windows/sunroof using the key in lock.
Go figure...

Mine did not come enabled with "comfort opening" the only control I have over both sun roof or windows (other than the obvious buttons) is when I turn the key in the door to close both windows and sunroof.
I will be returning to have this feature enabled at the dealer. I just hope it doesn't do it without warning and unexpectedly like some of the posts have suggested.
Our dealer gave us a list of options we could have programmed into our MINI, so we selected the remote opening windows and sunroof, DRLs, and deselected auto-locking doors (above 5 mph or so). There may have been more options that were programmable, but that's all I remember right now.
I want to turn auto-locking off as well. I think it's pretty pointless unless you're carrying small kids who may open an unlocked door while the car is moving.
But, back on topic. Has anyone else had a dealer tell them the remote comfort opening is no longer being offered?

Also, with auto-unlock, it's never really a problem for me to get out. Lastly, you also get to see your passengers face when they look for the unlock switch so they can open the door.
I don't think the Minis I've test driven auto unlocked. Is it normal to have to pull the door handle twice to open the door? I had to do that...I thought the doors didn't unlock themselves and it was like a pull-once-to-unlock, pull-again-to-open type deal.

Hi I’m with MINI USA and I wanted to let everyone here know that as of March 2005 production, the comfort opening default function on MINI vehicles was changed to inactive. This default function was changed on these vehicles to avoid unintended operation and to ensure doors remained locked, and the windows/sunroof closed during shipping and transport from the plant. However, your MINI dealer can easily activate this function to “on” upon your request. If you would like any additional information on this function, please contact us at 1.866.ASK.MINI.
