OMG, the same song keeps poping up on my iPod with almost 10GB of music on it.

Just burned some of my Vinyl to my Pod. Lately stuck on The Pretender's "Learning to Crawl" album. Time the Avenger....

Before I picked up Charlie I made a CD with loads of 'car songs'. Sunshine Pig was, of course, the first song to be played in the MINI - it seemed fitting. Other's include:

ZZ Top's La Grange (old Mitsubishi Eclipse commercial)
War's Lowrider and Apollo 440's Can't Stop The Rock (both from Gone in 60 seconds)
Kazzer's Pedal to the Metal and Timo Maas' To Get Down (both from Italian Job)
Hot Action Cop's Goin Down On It and Fever For the Flava (both from Need For Speed III)
Rob Zombie's Dragula (Gran Tourismo 2)

following the theme?

I actually bought AC/DC Back in Black just for the Dragon trip but one song that I would have to say is the absolute best motoring song of all time is the remake of Black Betty by Spider Bait, if you haven't heard it trust me and spend 99 cents and download it.

The (not-so) released Kanye Wests's Freshmen Adustment album.

Was the first CD played in the car as soon as it was in my name.

Although i actually agree with alot of the music listed thus far, i'm probably in a different age range than most when i say...

System of a Down- Toxicity (i love to bang my head, especially while i'm wearing pink, pigtails, with a "my size barbie" in the back seat, hello kitty air fresheners, pin wheel off the antenna, and care bear stickers lining the back window, making it appear i'd like...)
Hilary Duff. For those times i want to sing with someone that has as much of a kiddish voice as i do. or i go back to my old obsession...
Britney Spears. I have every single cd, cause most of them came out when i was 13-15
The first CD i played in my MINI, though, was T.A.T.U. Techno-ish with songs i can't understand and have no idea what language they're speaking. But the songs are AWESOME. I have trouble going slow when i crank them up. The best place to play it is near my house in the country where there's nothing but trees around me. I roll down both of the windows, and let the high notes bounce off the trees back at me. Just beautiful.
Other than that, it stays on rock stations, until it's flashback friday, then i blare the 80's & 90's. I think i need XM or Sirius

As someone said having something distinct to associate with their car, i feel awful saying i can't really think of anything from when i first owned the car, until i played T.A.T.U. a few days later. I made the mistake of bringing my bubble gum scented hello kitty air fresheners from my miata, where they were the first smell i associated with my miata. So now i keep it in the mini to remind me of it... although now i associate them with my mini :P

Overtures to the first and second acts of Carmen (Bizet)

Eine Kleine Nacht Musik (Mozart)

Brandenburg Concerto #2 & 5 (Bach)

But I'm still trying to spec an aftermarket system that will do justice to this stuff.

Caution: Musicphile posting

My Mini is second, always, to my music. Here's a tiny pinch...

Ryan (NOT BRYAN) Adams
Jesse Malin
My Morning Jacket
The Black Crowes
Kings Of Leon
The Damnwells
Secret Machines
Beck

that's recent anyway...

Oddly enough, the "Blues Brothers" soundtrack is great motoring music!

Metalica - One, or Fuel, hard not to speed with these tunes on, or alittle AC/DC! ------------------ I have to agree on Blues Brothers too, grew up a fan of Jake and Elwood

Anything by the Beatles. I always sing along and end up driving around bouncing in my seat with such a huge smile on my face.

I recently burned a CD with random Rage Against the Machine songs on it and I'm kind of afraid to see what it will bring out in me.

I love listening to anything with a good beat. Lots of Heavy Metal is great, System of A Down, Foo Fighters, Machine Head, and Slipknot.....but the all time best song to motor to is BOB by Outkast...the first time i listened to it in the MINI i was lucky to be on the free way, all of a sudden I was goin over 90 MPH and didn't even notice it!

I've always thought that RUSH has some of the very best music to drive to ever (they're not even one of my top 5 favorite bands but I like them well enough and especially for driving).
