Think outside "the box" or in this case the Mini
I have a factory luggage rack. Its awesome. Also added bike racks to the side. What I have discovered is that they (bike racks) also serve as extra place for stuff. So far I have carried 5 bales of straw home. on top of the car. (didn't want to get the station wagon (wifes car) dirty inside)
But the biggest feat so far was to transport a recliner from Cosco on top of the Mini. Thats right-a recliner. We were only 5 min. away. The gross weight of the recliner was 123 lbs-still with in reach of the luggage rack capacity. the stares were endless and the guy from Cosco became a believer in the end–this Mini's a keeper. Would I do it again? I was sweating pretty hard–we did not have to go on any highways so I think we were pretty safe. Our other car the family car does not have the versatility of the Mini.
Today i picked up a pallet of flooring. Did NOT use the Mini. Used the wagon on this one. Even I know what a pallet of flooring can do to struts and shocks. Made 3 trips to get it all. I guess it's about 2-3 days out of the year that I long for a pickup. But I've NEVER longed for an SUV because I've already got a true Sport Utility Vehicle. Maybe one day America will wake up and get over this Super-Size-Me-Craze. With gas prices going up and Jerry Falwell's and Bush's ratings going down, it just might happen.

Nice to see you keeping the tradition alive there buddy!!!
I had forgotten all about that. I think you can get a Corgi Mr Bean model somewhere. Yeah, that recliner stunt got some stares but I don't think it's something I'll repeat. Afterall, a friend with a truck is just a phone call away, but sometimes when you're at Cosco, you just gotta have it now.

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING is worse than a MINI offroad!
Last weekend I wanted to try out my new Mr. Clean Autodry gizmo on my new MINI. I wanted to wash the car in the shade, so I pulled it into the backyard to wash it (as I have done many times with every other car I've owned)
Once I had the car looking like a million bucks, I tried to drive it back to the driveway and I got it totally mired in mud. It took a friend with a Chevy Blazer to pull it out. Needless to say, the great wash job was ruined. I had to spend nearly $10 at the quarter eating car wash to get it clean enough to drive. Driving a MINI across grass works about as well as trying to climb a tree wearing rollerblades...
