Oh my! I can only imagine how you are feeling at this point. Poor MINI... It's been through a lot in it's short life so far. I hope it's fixed soon and back on the road....so sorry to hear this....I sorta know how you feel...we haven't had the best of luck with our MINIs lately either...

Oh no! That's whack! Well, its probably not much consolation, but try to think of it this way, you have probably filled your accident quota for some time to come. Hopefully, you'll be accident free now for at least a couple of years.

Aero Kit

Might see if you can have Aero kit installed now that the front bumper cover is trashed. How did the deer fare?

thanks everyone, haha yeah so cali sounds good right about now. nj is crazy. the deer, well, it slid for a little while then kinda opened up and 5 people hit it before it was moved. i was gunna move it but i was pisssed and didnt want ticks and crap on me. i want to try to find a giant joke band-aid somewhere and write DEER on it so people stop looking at my poor mini. i can put it right over the hair in my bumper i was thinking aero bumper, wonder how much more it would run me?

sorry to hear about your car.

I had a CIVIC like that in the past where it was hit within 2 weeks of
getting the car, then countless encounters with hit and run in the
parking lot....i got so fed up I sold the car.

yeah, every car i have owned was hit, accord was deered and iced, hyundai accent was backed up into overnight by an suv and made my hood look like a potato chip, tail whipped by a tractor trailer in the front fender cause he cut it to short in traffic, t-boned by a lady in a volvo that was running a red (trooper was witness for me ). then nissan 2002 se-r spec v was backed up into by my drunk sister a month after i got it and she didnt pay for the $3000 damage, was rear ended, and hit in a parking lot at some point, now this i am a really good driver and have never hit anyone, but slid 2x's on ice as my only fault, but thats what i get for driving in unsalted jersey back roads. i was going to by a wrx Sti but figured i didnt want something to happen to that one maybe ill buy it and leave it in my driveway forever, but then i'd be the first to have the sky fall on it, ha. what luck i have with cars!

Every car I owned in NJ got hit, deered or iced, too.

Now in SoCal, they get it in parking lots constantly by SUVs. That's the problem with California - itty-bitty parking spaces and lots of giant vehicles. MINI's only 2 weeks old and got dinged in a parking lot already. Luckily it was minor.

So sorry to hear about your newest accident.

Carol

HOLY SNIKIES!!!! You definitely had a run of bad luck with vehicles - OUCH!

ps...if you do find that band-aid you could probably make a mint selling them

true, haha if you saw that on a car with DEER in red on it, it would be funny right instead of ugly and, hmm what happened there, that guy is a bad driver type thought?

I think your car is jinxed.

I'd sell it and get another one.

I feel for you...I had my MCS only 1 month before I was driving home at rush hour (65 mph) on the highway and had a piece of 3/4" plywood go thru the front of my car that had flown out of some guys pickup truck. In my case, I had zero cosmetic damage to the car (it went thru the lower black plastic grate on the front skirt), but the plywood took out the air conditioning compressor, radiator, radiator support...to the tune of $1100.

Anyway, the one thing I learned was to consider it lucky that no one was hurt...yes it sucks, but the car can be fixed (hard to feel that way initially though, I must admit).

Unbelievable, but I too have had weird chaos karma with my MINI. A year ago Christmas I was hit by flying road debris while driving in rain at night. Lost the hoot, right Xenon, right fender and assorted trim; cost to fix nearly $6000. Now, just over the weekend, I discovered a five-inch dent in the front/top "lip" of the hood from an unknown source (chrome grille also misshapen). I'm trying Dent Wizard before I spring for a third hood; the Dent Wiz says it won't be 100%, but close.

Before the MINI I'd been driving for 27 years without any significant body damage. The car just seems to attract it... no idea why, maybe just a run of bad luck. (The Volvo in our family goes through tires like nobody's business, maybe my MINI is just destined to go through body panels.)

Doesn't bad luck come in threes...if so, I think that might have finished off your run of it. Let's hope so

Aero front apron parts quote

So I'm in similar situation. This winter was brutal on my whip as well. After a collision with a 10pin sized bowling ball ice chunk, my pass. lower front quarter was tooled up pretty good.
So I got a parts only quote from MINI of Peabody:
51-11-0-145-744 FRONT APRON $360.00 (Aero)
51-11-0-139-106 GRID $44.25 (upper
51-11-0-140-255 GRID $37.25 and lower grilles I believe)

From what I understand it does not come from the factory painted, so expect another $300-$400 for spray (expect on the high end of that range if you want a black outer rim trimmed up, more then likely if you're not gonna body-color the sills and other black trim bits). I was plannin on doing the install myself, but I would expect to pay around $95/hr for body work @ a couple hours minimum.
