Anyone have any suggestions? Just picked it up like an hour ago and the dealer wanted like 400 for the dealer back rack.

That sounds about right. I looked into bicycle racks a while back and quickly opted not to buy one. They are just so pricy; nice though. As far as I know, there are two MINI-approved rack options, the roof one, which is about $300 for one bike holder, not including installation. The other is made by MINI Fini (I think) and it mounts on the boot. That's priced even higher, $550.

I'm sure there are plenty of non-MINI specific options. I found one on a quick search:

I'm sure there are others. However, on these, I worry about the stability and whether or not the rack will end up scratching my paint.

i really dont want to go with the roof-type rack since previous racks have destroyed the roof of my cars as well as where the clips hold on to the side. On my GTI, I had a trailer hitch with a swing down bike rack. It was great since nothing actually touches the car. Mini wants wayyy too much for there rear rack.

 

d2mini at www.cooperspeed.com uses a mini top mount. he has pics and can fill you in.
I use the saris 3, check out this thread pages 2 and 3 for other racks and bags. I have about 5 or more photos of what the rack looks like with and w/0 my bike on it
