Crunched the Ghost Machine

First car crash in 28 years....*sigh*

Cabbie in front of me was stopping as I was looking in the mirror to change lanes. By the time I looked forward, it was too late. Slow speed, no airbag deployment and most important, no injuries to anyone..... If I had another foot, I'd have missed him... I go for the claims adjustment on Friday....

Must be an epidemic.....someone reversed into the front of our MCS at the weekend whilst we were waiting in line at the touch-free car wash (we had the xenons fired up as well). Very minor scrape, but unfortunately it won't polish out. So, the person responsible is looking at the thick end of $450 to put it to rights...that'll teach him.

Thanks for the support. I was very torqued at myself... First estimate places the bill at $1800, with all new replacement parts.....

Sorry to hear the news. I had a shop look at fixing a dent in the rear quarter pannel. To boddy work, paint and bondo was $900. So to R&R the bumper and paint I do not think that is far off for a good job. I can't tell from the pic if they will fix the bonnet or replace it. Sorry to hear about your bad luck, glad you are ok.

That's with a replacement bonnet, which is not really a lot of money for the part. The expense is in the painting along with the associated labor... But that's fine, the Ghost Machine only has 1490 miles. I'd prefer the parts be new...

It does not suprise me that it is a replacement bonnet easier on the wallet and body shop both. They and you will want to blend the paint in with the adjoining body pannels so you do not see a color mismatch in bright light. Sounds like you are going about it the correct way. Hope you car is back soon.

This was an expensive hit. The Ghost Machine will head into the hospital next week. My insurance adjustor pegged it at $2430. *sigh* Fortunately I only have a $250 deductable.

But my baby will be as good as new as the shop is the Holman BMW Group repair center and BMW certified. All new OEM parts will be used. I can't wait for it to be done already!

Thanks for the support, folks.

Bummer..........it's always sad to read posts like this. Chin up - hopefully the repairs won't take long and The Ghost will be back on the streets motoring soon....

Thanks. Contrary to popular belief, the MCS will NOT fit in the trunk of a taxi!
