Meatballs on the Cabrio MINI?

SO... I got my MINI Cabrio S about 3 weeks ago, it is Cool Blue with the navy convertable top, I have white bonnet stripes, added some chrome, it is SOOO cute. BUT...what do you think of the meatballs (round numbers that stick on the doors) on the convertable? Anyone have any photos?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Convertable MINI owners out there?

I feel like a silly fool. I asked a quesiton about meatballs on a MINI Cabrio, and 49 people looked, but no replies. My husband thinks there aren't many MINI Carbio owners yet.

Are you out there?

I am Mini Cabrio S, Cool Blue, dark blue top, navy leather interior, white bonnet stipes, chronos package, chrome exterior upgrades, 17'' wheels, etc.

Have already taken it wine tasting twice!

Look forward to hearing from you, AND by the way...if you have a Cabrio, would you consider getting meatballs? You know the round magnetic numbers that go in the doors...

We are here, we are here, we are here... (sorry Dr. Seuss ).

I have Cool Blue MCSC/Black Top and Black bonnet stripes. I personally wouldn't consider the meatballs for a convertible. It seems appropriate for a car you might find on a track - someplace i would not take the ragtop.

I have to agree with indimini...I have a DS/black top with black/white ruled stripes. I have not seen a convertible with meatballs in person or pics, but I have seen them on the hard tops and they do look like they are race cars - not my preferred look. If you do decide to get, don't forget to post some pics.

mbabischkin & indimini, thanks for your quick responce!

You are right, the numbers are more for the track, and although I am considering taking mine out for a little track drive someday...the numbers many not be right for a ragtop. I can't resist the track, this is the MOST fun I have ever had in a car!

I am looking for fun ways to customize, I recently added the checkered flag mirrors. I have gotten many compliments.

So how long have you had your Mini Cabrio?

rsbell, Get magnetic meatballs so you can use them as the whim strikes you! I think it would look cool! But I have an MCS hatch.

I'll bet 77 will be the number WHEN you order them. Go for it. Off and on as you like.

See you in Vegas ??

I may be way off here, but I thought racing numbers on cars are illegal for street use?

As far as the racing numbers for street use, laws may vary from state to state.

All I know is there is a local MC with a number 10 on the side, it looks cool.

I odn't know about Vegas yet, but that sounds like a whole lot of fun!

Hmmm....the President of c3, Octane Guy, has a meatball with 95 on his Cooper and he's never had any trouble over it from the LAPD. Sara, go for it! Since so many cabrio owners say nay, you'll be very distinctive!

As for Vegas, check this link out: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...splay.php?f=88

It was fantastic last year! People came from as far away as New York!

I've done more mods to my convertbile than any car I've ever owned. Most have been interior add-ons: Whalen shift ****, window auto-up circuit, Cocomats, XM Radio, European Parcel shelf. Exterior changes included non-runflats and stubby antenna. Next comes performance. First will be the JCW CAI, then a reduction pulley. After that who knows. Customization doesn't need to be something that stands out to the casual observer imho. As long as it makes the car more "you" that's all that counts.

So how long have you had your Mini Cabrio?
I got mine in early December. Hmmm.... I may need to slow down my pace of mods or I'll run out of things to buy before it's even a year old.

Did you go with the xmdirect, if so where did you hide the unit and where did you place the antenna?

Yes, XMDirect, with Blitzsafe unit. I was able to hide the Blitzsafe unit inside the boot liner on the right hand side. The XM tuner is sitting in the space just above in the "dead space" over ther rear wheel well.

Right now, the antenna is on the rear above the tail light assembly. Once it gets warmer, I plan on routing the antenna up to the front near the main antenna base.

Thanks thats were I have my antenna above the light. My cables did not seem long enough to do what you did. So mine is tie wrapped together sitting on the floor. Cold here in Buffalo also and plan to do more exploring with mounting options when it warms up. Thanks for the information.

So now that you have the Parcel Shelf...can you not live without it? I saw it on outmotoring.com and thought it looked pretty neat. What do you usually set there?

The parcel shelf is definitely a "must have" in terms of its utility. In my older MINI I put my wallet, sunglasses, etc. in the door pocket. However, the 05 door handles are so bulky, it is impossible to get things in and out of the doors imho. The parcel shelf now holds my wallet, sunglasses and cell phone.

It was pretty easy to install - the biggest trick is getting the little clips that hold the screws into position w/o them moving all the time.

I first saw the parcel shelf during a meet-up w/ rmorin and howardpm. rmorin pulled his from his older Cooper and I saw how useful it was. I only wish that MINI would offer this as a build option.
