Accidentally dropped engine (passenger side).

Firstly, I acknowledge that I’m a moron and that today my ambition exceeded my talent.

I am in the middle of major service to include a pulley upgrade and have the car on jackstands, front service mode engaged/header removed/subframe removed and in my haste to remove the passenger side engine mount, i forgot to put support under the block and when i undid the four bolts, the whole thing slipped out and was dangling by the driver’s side mount. I had also just changed the cv axles so thankfully they didnt pop and goo out everywhere. I was able to jack up and reattach the mount to the chassis/block and am only suffering from psychological and emotional distress.

My question to yall now—do you think anything else could’ve come to harm through this? I bugged out on account of being molested by mosquitos, so i’ll check in the morning to confirm any damage. Many thanks in advace!

  1. Time for a new mount on drivers side. You could have torn it.

As long as it was "dangling" and the crank pulley didn't make hard contact with anything, you're probably ok.
I would however change the passenger/transmission mount as well, just as a precaution in case you damaged it by stressing the rubber portion.

I've been wrenching cars for 50 years and have gotten away with much worse, you did good. Lesson learned, prob nothing broke.

Inspect the driver side transmission + gearbox mount(s). They are pretty beefy/substantial but I've read others have experienced having broken ones (that had not been a result of what you've encountered).
I can imagine if any potential damage/broken might have occurred around the mounting bolts.
As stated above; you're probably ok - but worth checking anyway.

Just my opinion having had a near similar experience.

The driver side is actually the strongest engine mount. I doubt that you caused any damage. A good visual inspection should help your confidence.

Thanks again all, no leaks, nothing obviously crushed. On the bright side, service isnt complete so i have plenty of time to rectify things as needed.
