MC Only Please

Who out there has the most performance modified MC that will also qualify as a daily driver?

Is it just me, or are there others out there who would like some more separation between MC performance posts and MCS performance posts? I've tried to do a search, several in fact, and am never quite able to find what I'm looking for. Or at least making "MC" an exception to the "word too short to search for" filter.

So, I posed my question in a manner that will allow MC owners only -- current or former -- to brag about their pride and joy.

The question is only about performance modifications. Sorry. Not concerned at this point about a custom paint job or an I.C.E. (it took me forever to figure out what the heck that meant) loud enough to knock satellites out of orbit. And, I couldn't figure out what forum to post this under as it applies to several.

I was all set to buy an MCS and go the full whole hog JCW upgrade route. Then something in the last goMINI flipped a switch. Maybe going the MC route and modifying the bejesus out if it and, here's the important part, making it more MY car is the right answer.

I want a car that could be driven in the Italian Job, but not cause me to need dialysis after driving on our potholed Chicago roads, and not drone on incessantly during long drives on the interstate. I'm obviously not worrying about what class I get bumped into, but would like to do the occaisional track day and the like.

So, start bragging and let me know what you've got.

MC aficianados

I too had a difficult time choosing between an S and the base Cooper. Ultimately, I chose the base model because I don't like the hood scoop and the roads in Nebraska are terrible at times.

My Cooper is being built right now so I don't have all the specs, but from what I have been reading about $1000 will get you to 130 hp and I have already ordered an intake, exhaust, and will get the MTH chip-tune. Beyond that, I'm not sure anything else will make a huge difference without some major mods and dinero!

Kudos to all the MC owners who chose less power and a softer ride. But not to diss all the S owners as they definitely have their place too. To each his/her own and I look forward to hearing about everyone else's mods.

No mods, but light wheels are a big advantage for Coopers.

Have you seen this thread? https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ht=cooper+mods

There are lots of us Cooper owners out there who like to mods also.

There aren't a lot of extra ponies to be squeezed from the cooper engine, but you can get a nice improvement in the sound. Lot's of possibilities for suspension work.

Just have fun

I'm some what intrigued by a few more horses, but the cost at this time is tough for me to justify. My MC does me well, and at 5-6K RPM pulls great in the snow.
Found a new twistie place today,I can see ahead,so I know the coast is clear, and geez this car handles, point it where ya want to go,punch the throttle and go there.I've driven lots of cars in the snow, and this car out performs them all, even my old classic Mini.
But if I could afford to get it to 130HP,I'd be there in a heart beat
