Damo Drives: "1320 Mini ECU remapping but WHAT actually happens"

Just now watched Damian's (Damo drives) newest subject video as well as his follow-up on-the-road video (links below) as relates to dyno tuning R53/R52 W11 engines performed at 1320 Mini (UK). IMO, a highly interesting process with aspects factoring performance mods and owner objectives not nearly as possible when performed remotely as many of us on NAM (and worldwide) have done. Rather than simply stating outcome objectives and then letting someone (known expert in my above reference) tweak specific parameters, doing that tuning with eyes-on and dialog with an expert tuner would be far preferable. For me though, not geographically possible. Relatively long videos but well worth the watch (and listen), noting 1320's lead tech cautions about using Chinese knockoff injectors.

This one first:

adriancl can onspot live tune... we did it on my car with a laptop and my phone providing the internet connection.. he had special programs to monitor everything and was able to tweak the car to perfection and dial in every last bit of power we could..
You can have a tuner be remote connected to your pc and then distance and geography is never an issue.. he literally tuned my car from the other side of the world !
so I 100% disagree that this can't be accomplished via remote tuning and imo road tuning IS FAR more accurate than a dynotune on rollers and a fan.imo Nothing beats real world scenario tuning..

^^^ Of course Adrian can remote tune and did so for mine like so many others here and around the world. Point being, eyes-on with dialog while ECU tuning is being performed vs doing a live "chat" session while an expert such as Adrian "drove" my laptop. My tuning session consisted of; outlining known mods plus objectives in advance, then him having a go with a single remote tuning session. I can only guess whether I might have achieved even more with direct engagement with a specialist such as 1320 Mini. But then, they are in the UK and I'm in central AZ where trucks and jeeps reign supreme (hey, I own both of those too).

Seems I figured wrongly this topic would have greater interest within this subforum than it has so far. Nearly no shops equipped with dynamometers within a few hundred miles of my central AZ location and very few MINI-oriented tuning shops within the USA. OTOH, 1320 Mini in the UK is a well known resource for those living there. Damo's video is unique, IMO, by providing insight on factors and variables that must be considered vs a "canned tune".

I would actually love to have a discussion about the way the Siemens DME works since there isn’t much out there, but the people who’ve figured it out seem to prefer to keep that info close to their chests, which I suppose I understand.

I'd love to have someone tune my car on a dyno and change the tune accordingly. I know RMW had done this in the past, but the one time he was supposed to come around my area in 2019 it was cancelled due to lack of interest. Tuning remotely works really well too, especially if you're able to log A/F and get good clean runs. I've done that with other platforms and most tuners have moved to that as it's much cheaper for them. It is still really nice to be able to strap down the car and get actual whp numbers and tune in a controlled environment though!
