R50/53 R53 Suspension Upgrade in 2023
R53 Suspension Upgrade in 2023
i have got a '05 MCS JCW
Im looking to upgrade my tired old (225XXXKM) suspension, but cannot find a definitive answer to what the best choice is in current year.
The car is a daily albeit with mods. it will see the track a handful of times each year. its on 16" rims and tires.
Not looking to lower much if at all.
has anyone upgraded their suspension lately and have any positive or negative feedback on their choice?
Budget is not the main concern, just want a quality ride with good dampening. i plan to keep the car forever so id rather not skimp out.

Not looking to lower the car… Are you looking to keep the stock springs, or looking for something more firm?
If I had an R53, I would get the JCW red springs and a set of Bilstein B6 shocks, and refresh all the rubber bushings with poly replacements.

....and I'd go with KONI yellows and SWIFT springs. Before installing, decide on camber plates if you want some negative camber up front and adjustable rear control arms in the back. Poly bushings will firm things up but install a set at a time so you'll decide when to quit. The front lower control arm bushings are the most critical but the most difficult to install. If you haven't changed to a larger rear sway bar, now is the time.
