Long story short , a local mini guy had his clutch replaced by a shop and his car wasn't rite so he got ahold of me and I straightened it out and got it running correctly again but in the process I found this ontop of his control arm , is this a shift weight bracket if I'm correct? And it's not essential is it. Or is it more for just feel than anything ? Because it looks like it's bracket has been snapped off.
also they didn't plug in his coolant sensor , intake was loose AND didn't even change noneless check the gear fluid. So I changed that and his engine oil too and omfg , barely 1/2qt of gear fluid came out. Luckily no chunks or glitter but wooooooooow. Imo it was a ticking time bomb..
I guess he found My youtube acc , lol.. idc though , im always willing to help someone out if i can..
here is pics of how bad the oil was and the bracket.
Is it shift weight bracket or ????
It will still shift, but the shifts won't feel as solid/positive without the weights.
that's what I thought and told the kid too... I had him feel the difference then between his shifter and mine.. thxfully his shifter still felt good , just a little lighter than normal.
thx for the info though.....i will pass it along and now he can enjoy his mini again and break in his clutch ,worry free..
Same thing I had discovered after I had my clutch replaced by a "5*" BMW MINI shop. Nary 1/2 qt of gear fluid!!!
The only difference being - the fluid appeared new/just added. Nevertheless. Less than 1/2 qt
