Oil pressure at idle after replacing oil pump
Hi guys, I just had the shop replace my oil pump while they did the timing chain. I put a thousand miles on after they replaced the pump, all was fine. However today when I drove the car, the oil pressure light came on. As soon as I rev the engine past idle, it disappears, but it consistently stays on while the engine is idling.
Because they just replaced the oil pump, and it was fine for a thousand miles, am I correct in assuming this is just the oil pressure switch? If there were any installation issues I am guessing it would have shown itself immediately right?

It could possibly be the oil pressure sending switch. When I previously had a shop replace my oil cooler seals I later discovered the oil pressure sending switch was only screwed in hand tight.
I only noticed this while preparing to install a new switch and oil pressure gauge.
Your switch may have backed out since the repairs?

Most likely the oil pressure switch. Mine was doing the same, it came on while I was stuck at the drive-thru and made me panic a bit at first... checked the oil and it was fine and it was going away with revs. In my case, it was leaking slightly thru the connector, so the diaphragm was shot and it wouldn't hold the switch in its normal position, making the light come on. Installed a new one and it went away.
