Hi Folks,
should the dsc light come on if I put the car in gear while up on four stands?

my 2002 Mini Cooper S with 6-speed, while up on four stands with the front wheels off the car it starts and idles fine in neutral. And if hit the dsc button and the dsc light is on, I can shift through all gears and can see the wheels turn. However with dsc light off, 2nd through 6th is a different matter

• In 1st gear, both hubs spin smoothly with no issues
• after shifting into 2nd through 6th gear
  • DSC light flashes, when in gear
  • seems like there is binding
  • there is a grinding noise
  • really bad shaking,
  • so I immediately push the clutch back in. Is this just DSC system engaging the brakes?

If I leave the dsc light on, it is fine through all gears. Is this normal?
