R50/53 Someone driving in an SUV gave me the finger!
>>I can't remember the last time I was flipped off. I think I was in high school.
>>
>>Instead, it seems people now days express their anger by getting on your @$$ so close you can feel their bumper on your neck. Typically, they are driving a (fill space with most garish, ridiculously large SUV you can think of). They then turn on their high beams making your corneas feel like huge nails are being jabbed into them.

Maybe he was having a really bad day.....
When people flip me off I blow kisses at them. One time I did that to this guy and he started laughing and waved. It was pretty funny

My remedy for the middle finger:
I throw on my blue dash light that I use for volunteer fire dept, the person thinks im an UC cop and pulls to the shoulder. I drive up beside them give them the finger, than laugh as I watch them try to get back into traffic from the shoulder in my rear view mirror. Works every time.

>>something tells me no one is gunna pull over for a MINI.
Thought I saw somewhere where some country or city was using the MINI cooper for their police cars. I hope they don't have probs getting people to pull over.

You misunderstood the meaning of flipping the middle finger. It's the new international signal that indicates, "I cannot park this land yacht myself and request assistance from you in that cool/hot MINI, kinda like an ocean liner needs a hard working tug. Help me, please!"
BTW, at the recent San Francisco Auto Show, the California Highway Patrol had a Cooper in perfect B&W CHP livery. Perfect!

Thanks, FutureMini!
I am ordering a "Support OPEC. Buy An SUV" bumper sticker!
Motor on!
P.S. It is sad about the household size statistic. Hopefully, the new found popularity of hybrids like the Forester or AWD Matrix will turn things around. In my mom's defense, she does spend all day carting family memebers around, so she is not one of those lone people tooling around in an SUV.

I'm new to the forum and awaiting delivery of my silk green cooper in NC. Sorry to hear about the ill-mannered SUV - remember to give him a lift though to the filling station next time you see him out of gas.
Also, what's this about a screw-on oil filter conversion? Are the filters canister types like on my '72 TR-6?
Drive safe!

Those bumper stickers are hilarious! I'm ordering the "Support OPEC" one as well.
Oh, if someone has an SUV and they are using it for what it was intended for (like your mom), that's fine. My parents have an old '91 Blazer they use for carrying all their stuff when they go fishing and they do have to offroad to get to some of the places they go. They actually only use it for that or snowy weather because they don't like driving it - too cumbersome to drive and park according to them. But when you see a pristine, shiny Cadillac Escalade with $5k rims and tires with one person, I highly doubt that person is using it for off-roading, carting around people etc.
Later!

Even better, you could keep that "Hey Sexy" sign that comes with the first MINI package, and flash it at 'em. I have yet to use that on a car full of girls. I'm scary enough already...

I hope you didn't think it was me.
I passed a CR MINI on Rt 295 on Saturday and I gave the driver a thumbs up as I went by. I was in my Land Rover Discovery and with the snow-salted windows I hope I wasn't misunderstood.
As a MINI owner in waiting I try to wave to all MINI's but don't really expect a return wave because of the vehicle I'm in. But, I sincerely hope that no one takes my friendly wave in the wrong way.

That was, I think, a pic of a CHiPs MINI Cooper at the SF Auto Show. It was SWEET lookin'. Almost worth a ticket, just to have a good close look!
Could have sworn it was a European city...
Do you have a pic of the CHiPs MINI?
