r53 bad tie rod

Hello all,
I have a 2005 MCS and whenever I jack up the front of my car the left wheel has no play in it from left to right but the right wheel has at least 1/2 inch of play from left to right and I checked the tie rod and lo and behold it has gone bad. There is a lot of play in the tie rod as it can be twisted and upon visual inspection there is a gap at the end of the knuckle between the rubber and the metal. I plan to buy a set of tie rods and replace them both. Is there anything else to check and is this the probable cause of the amount of play it has? There is no play when I shake the wheel from the top and bottom.

Check your control arm bushings as well, stabilizer links might be shot too.

At this age it’s time for a refresh. Replace all bearings, bushings and ball joints if u plan to keep the car

This is the best advice. The powerflex bushings are a popular choice
