R50/53 MINI and baby???
I brought our second child home from the hospital in a VW Thing, so I'm probably not one to talk, but the ultimate safety of a car is accident avoidance and accident survivability, both of which the Mini excels at. It's no more dangerous than any car on the road, and safer than most.
The infant seat Calvin was in was a Cosco item. Worked very well. regarding all the talk about strollers fitting I though I would just add one more suggestion;
a sling.
Takes up zero room. Kids love em.

It is a tough choice. I can tell you that it is no fun getting your child in and out of your Mini while in a major rain storm. It was not too bad in the beginning,but it gets to you after awhile.I just could not take it anymore. Plus, a toddler seat and a rear facing infant seat are tough to get in and out of the car.The 3 1/2 year old would get in by himself.I would just buckle him up.But putting in an infant would be more difficult. Our kids are 3 1/2 and 6mo. Our 03 MCS has been gone now for 9mo. We all miss it alot. I just had a hard time dealing with picking up and dropping off the 3 1/2 year old every day. My wife and my son miss the Mini as much as I do. So we have a deal.When the little one is in a booster seat,we will order another MCS. Can't wait. But for now we will just have to admire all of your Mini's instead.I have not posted here in awhile.Even though I don't have a Mini any longer,I still find myself gravitating to this website.I guess I'm just a hardcore fan.
