During head reassembly, I installed the rocker arm shaft backwards, dented all four spark plug tubes after torquing down due to interference. I ordered new parts, but cannot seem to get the new tubes to seat down far enough in the head . I applied loctite red per Bentley manual, used a block of wood and tapped with hammer, but the two new tubes that I tried will not go down far enough. I decided to stop before I caused any further damage, seemed I was hitting plenty hard enough. I know there is a type of drift/press tool per manual, but I cannot find one. Anyone have any experience doing this or ideas? I removed both new tubes and now need to order two more (@ $30 each)....
Do they slide into a hole? Or, sleeve onto something? You could pull them out and put them in the freezer for awhile if they go in a hole. The slightly smaller diameter my help them go a little further in. If they sleeve over something, maybe try to warm them up in the oven.
This guy used a pretty big hammer and some silicone...
