Changing Waterpump...do I have to pull the SC?

The o-ring where the water pump snout goes into the block is leaking coolant. Is there a way to just pull the waterpump off of the back of the SC in order to get access to that flange seal, or am I going to have to pull the entire SC off? I just had the SC off to service it last weekend, but I must have nicked that o-ring on the water pump where it plugs into the flange on the block.

If I don't have to pull the SC again....that would sure same me lots of time.

Thanks!

No, You can service the water pump without removing the SC.

It’s only 3 more bolts to remove the sc. going to be really tough getting the water pump lined up and seated into sc with it still being bolted onto the engine.

Well....I just got it all back together. It was actually pretty easy. I ended up taking off the flange where it bolts to the block, and just took that and the water pump off as one assembly, made it much easier.

I cleaned everything up, put two new orings on it, pressed the flange onto the waterpump snout, and then installed it all as one piece. I left the flange bolts lose until I got the water pump tight, and then tightened the flange. It saved me a bunch of time doing it that way vs. taking the serpentine belt off, alternator, and pulling the SC...probably saved me a good hour or two.

Unfortunately...I snapped that grey pipe that goes to the map sensor and connects to the intake tube....so now I have to either attempt to find one locally, or JB weld it. Hopefully I can find one locally.....

Been there, happened to me when I did my service earlier this year. Best not to mess with it and source a replacement. They're not that expensive, maybe $30-$40
