I'm looking to buy R53 mini cooper s this weekend but this car has aftermarket header so I have to swap with stock header/cat combo so I can pass smog test.

the owner bought mini as a project car so the car is currently not registered for street use so I'm wondering how much I have to pay for the registration If I register it over my name. Tags not paid over 2 years.

Usually, it's the seller who has the responsibility to smog the car before sale. You must be getting a real good deal to take on the risk of smogging an unknown car.

If you do go through with the deal, you might check the local wrecking yards or craigslist for part outs of vehicles in your area. I see there's one R53 being parted out in North Hollywood. Near you?
