R50/53 D1S on passenger side; D2S on driver side???

D1S on passenger side; D2S on driver side???
Just purchased an '06 S from a friend. The driver side headlight was out so I went in to swap the bulb or igniter with the the good one to see which was bad, and noticed I don't have D2S on the passenger side like on the driver side??? I've noticed a few other people say the same thing. Is this a thing? Or did someone actually install a D2S to D1S adapter to install a more expensive Phillips XenStart D1S on just the passenger side, and then leave the driver side alone?
