I understand that the same p/s pump will fit from 2002 to 2006. Did they make any improvements in the later years(i.e. 2006) to make it more reliable.
Im looking at pumps from wreckers and wonder if Im better off to get one from the later years rather than earlier.

 

They might have been different since the recall only included '02-'05. What year is your car, and did you already run your VIN to see if you're eligible for the pump replacement?

I think you can go up to '08 as long as you stick with a convertible (R52) which should get you the newest pump, unless they came up with an updated one for the recall. Hopefully someone like Way Motor Works or ECS Tuning can confirm the compatibility of the pumps.

 

They did do some improvements as the 04-06 later ones the biggest change was they were quieter. but they also seemed more reliable.

If you need a pump go new, don't bother with used as they are too common of a failure you will likely end up doing it again.
