Anybody try the heated seats? I have never seen such heat generation. Flame on! It will really roast your butt. Anybody else think the heat is a bit excessive? ops: ops:

It is a bit much for some people...There are two positions though: warm, and roast. Personally, I like the super bun-roaster level

It's 19 degrees here in Chicago. I had it on on the way home from work on the roast setting and it was great to be warmed up so quickly. I recommend it if you live in the snow belt.

Yup...used to have the 5-position heated seats in my old 'Dub, just like in the Beetle (it was a '01 Jetta).

To my hind-end, 1 dot on the mini seats is about like '3' on the 'Dub. 2 Dots is pretty much like the '5' (highest) setting.

They are pretty remarkable...they heat-up *much* faster than those in my 'Dub did. Must say I'm quite pleased

Hahaha!! I live in San Francisco, it's like 51 degrees outside and I'm in my down jacket with the heater on in my house! I ordered the Cold Package, too, just for the heated seats and my boyfriend (he's from Nebraska) thought I was so dumb to do that! He couldn't understand why I needed it, so I had to explain to him that it's cold in the morning and the side view mirrors have condensation on them! The heated side view mirrors are well worth it for that reason! Hahahahaha, he looked at me like I was crazy, but for an extra $300, why not?

I found that the temperature of the heated seats seems to coincide with the temperature you have your heater set to....so the higher the degree, the hotter the seat!!

Personally, I love them! Keep my buns nice and toasty!

Heated seats with cloth are amazing! They are WARM in under a minute, which is nice for those cold mornings when it takes about 3-5 minutes for the heat to blow hot.

Oh, and I love the "roast" setting personally.

I wasn't sure how those would work out with cloth, but there's my answer right there.....
I didn't get heated seats because it seemed a little unnecessary. It gets cold here, but the winter's aren't too bad compared to other places I could be and I plan to move someplace warm all year eventually!

The greatest thing sence sliced bread. The wife loves them. Hasen't been cold enough in the Bay area for me to use them but it will. Inadvertantly turned them on one day and couldn't figure out why I was getting so hot. Two dots was a bit much.

If I recall my physics properly, setting the temperature higher won't make anything heat up faster, but I still like to start out on .. (2dots) and after I feel the heat, move down to . and then off.

I think the heaters are borderline requirements for leatherette or leather in cold climes. [clink, clink] - my 2 cents.

Setting the temperature hotter doesn't make the seats heat up faster...but I've found with my car that the higher I have the temperature, the hotter the seat gets. The seats heat up in about a minute anyway, don't need them to heat up faster than that!

I love em! One of my favorite features on my MCS. I was up in Maine over Thanksgiving and I turned the ignition one morning and the temperature was 7 degrees!!!!! Those seats warmed me up fast. My preference is the high setting, toasty buns! I wish the steering wheel and gear shifter were heated too.

Whoa - that gear shifter gets cold, doesn't it? I'm almost tempted to buy one of the all-leather jobies I've seen on some of the supplier sites.

I agree. I keep expecting that someday I'll get in there with wet hands after wiping snow off Nigel and getting my hand STUCK to the chrome, (you know like that kid who got his tongue stuck to the pole in the movie "The Christmas Story&quot?

I'm going to an accessory sale at MINI of Peabody here in MA and hope to find a deal on one of those leather covers. Maybe I can find one with a battery operated heater.

Anybody ever have seat heaters in other autos?

It seems to me that the MINI seats heat up the faster than any other car. People who have test sat my seats all say that.

I bought the heated seats mostly for my wife, but now that I've tried them, I'm using them all the time. The broiler setting is a bit much, though.

Finalized my specs yesterday for "Ferris" and was inspired by the snow today and called to add the cold weather package. Does the heated seat switch really say 'roast' on it or is it just dots?

So wished I had my Mini wish DSC today. Sure could of used it.
