sanding down surfaces

I took off the supercharger to change the oil in the supercharger. When I went to put it back on, I noticed there wasn't a gasket where the supercharger meets the block. So, do I just sand down the surfaces and pray to God it doesn't leak or .....? Some asstance would be great.
