rear tail lights

My tail lights are all red except the reverse light. How come I see lights in photos that have amber in them?

I don't like clear taillights. They have the word "Rice" written all over them.

The '05 US spec rear tailights are all red and quite frankly I don't find them to integrate well with the car. I never liked all red tailights. The amber portion for the turn signals adds security. '05 Euro/worldwide spec MINIs do have the amber portion in them for the turn signals. I don't understand why MINI decided that all red was best for the US spec cars.

'02-'04 MINIs have red/amber tailights.

Another thing I don't like about the '05s is the cheap black plastic cover on the location occupied prior by the backup light. If you don't order the rear foglight, your MINI gets "blessed" with this ugly and tacky plastic cover.

To me the '02-'04s have the original design elements in order where as the '05s some of the changes are either hit or miss.

Saying clear lights are rice is a huge generalization. Yes it is a modification that many ricers do but on some cars it looks f'in hot. On the black car above and on an indigo blue one I saw on here the clear lights really stand out in a very good way. I give them a

In the 2005 You-Ification (official accessories) catalog there is an item listed for pre-05 cars that replaces the amber lens with a white lens. At least I think that's what it is - there isn't a picture.

Anybody seen such a thing? Or is it maybe talking about the all white lens? I don't think I'd get rid of my amber, but it might be a cool option.

Just because "ricers" do it, doesnt make it rice. What about all the exhausts the Coopers put on. Those look suspiciously like the fart cans that honda kids put on. So does that make them rice?

Are the clear tails available yet for the '05's? When I got my car they weren't.

just ignore the rice comments. the majority of the people that comment rice, are people that conform to society and seek approval from everybody before doing any major mod to there car, in fear of not fitting in or looking cool.

Been there done that, got the T-shirt... i say go for what you like bottom line

Hot lookin' option on the darker colors, esp when mixed with chrome body accents and blinged out rims. Unfortunately like many things mini...overpriced.

Really? I think this more of a metter of good taste and aesthetics than "seeking approval" from everybody else.

Does anyone know if there are dark or black tail lights that are street legal? I've seen covers/films...but no actual lights.

I think the issue is people like different looks and “Rice” comments like yours are unproductive and very negative. BTW not everyone likes Union Jack roof decals but you don't hear any negative comments about them. I say do what you like and don't worry about what anyone else thinks.

I think the white tail lights look okay on some MINIs, but something to keep in mind: when the lights or brakes are on they look pink, not red.

Not true. If you have the correct wiring kit they not only look red but are very bright. Like LED bright. Also during the day they have kind of a mother of pearl sparkle to them. They look great on dark cars like black, IB or BRG.

That pic does look like a wash out red. Better bulbs should fix that though.

I actually found a place on MINI2.com that you can get the Euro 05 taillights. (with amber turn indicators). They are about £64 each. Heres the link https://www.newministuff.com/new/sho...uctshow&id=149 But actually there is a new 05 clear turn indicator lamp that i am trying to find. Alot of the Euro 05's that were made after Jan '05 have a clear turn indicator with a orange bulb. Just like the 02-04 clear indicators but in the 05 style. There are pics on Motoringfile.com under the Geneva Auto Show pics.
