05 justa auto cvt, ONLY has reverse?

I searched before posting and couldn't find anyone on here having the same issue. It seems the reverse problem is usually a lack thereof, but mine is that I have only reverse. This is a car that will be sold, not my personal vehicle. Bought it like this. It will go in reverse and haul butt backwards, no clunk, no issues other than occasionally almost dying in reverse if it's been sitting a few days.

Put it in any other gear and it doesn't want to move. It will go slowly forward while cold, but rpms go way up and it creeps forward. Once warm, it won't move. I'm getting the p0705 and a p1629 for the throttle, which I think does need replacing. We did the flush and fill with fresh cvt. Now, husband got cheap and tried to spray clean the throttle body which then ignited and blew a hole in the engine block. So...

We took a car with transmission problems and gave it motor problems.

Luckily we have a spare motor to install soon, but I'm not buying a cvt. Could the real issue simply have been the failing throttle body? Maybe when it's working the car will actually pull? It is otherwise in pristine condition and with very low miles (new motor also has low miles). I hate to part it out, but I want to be reasonably sure it's going to drive once it runs again.

Thanks! I look forward to getting to know you folks. I'll be around after this post.
