I think at this point I’m just looking for some clues to what I may be missing..

Slave cylinder that was replaced about 30k ago
(OE MINI) was beginning to leak a little, started to get a little worse because I was adding a little brake fluid periodically. Finally it gave up..
ordered an aftermarket slave, upon install the line going into slave broke off at base(it was pretty rusted). Ordered line from MINI and replaced.

Did the usual bleed process with slave- Home made steel plate with holes to match slave and a countersunk spot in middle to hold the ball end of slave straight, long bolts and nuts. Press slave all the way in, put a little fluid in, install in line, pump, bleed, pump, bleed, pump, bleed. No pedal.. Ton of fluid came out from boot area? New slave no good.. ugh. Return and order another. Same procedure, all the bubbles gone, still no pedal.
Remove plate, bolt slave up, I get a little pedal. But.. there’s fluid coming out of the boot. WTF..!!!!

Now I know a little seepage over time is okay.. a few tablespoons right from new? Ugh...

I guess I will order one from MINI. Otherwise.. I don’t know what I could be missing.

What did you have to remove to get to the other end of the hydraulic line from the slave cylinder?

Most of this occurs if you let the plunger come fully out of the housing (limit of travel) before you put your homemade tool on it.

Take your old unit apart and you will see a rubber plunger.
Sometimes when you compress the shaft into the housing the plunger can flip at the edge and loose it's seal. You can fix it if that is the case. Sometimes the plunger gets damaged/nicked when you are compressing it and it is misaligned...in that case it is scrap.

Hope that helps.

Just the metal pipe from slave to rubber hose.. sits right on top of transmission.
Removed air inlet, top of air box and intake hose that runs to throttle body. The hose/pipe connection sits in a bracket and has the same clip in fitting as the slave.

I resolved the issue by getting a slave OEM, same process and it all works now. Just unlucky with two crap aftermarket slaves.
