I thought I'd share this, although many of you with your MINIs have likely experienced the same thing...

On Friday night (my MCS had only been in my possession for 24 hours or so) I went to a local bar&grill with 8 friends and their wives.

EVERY ONE of the guys had to come out, one at a time, and eyeball My Sharona, sit inside, touch things, etc. etc. Needless to say they each loved the look and style of the MCS.

Only one of the ladies ventured out to see what the fuss was. The guys all said they would have gone for the LY/B as well. Good choice on my part, I guess.

What kind of "show-off" opportunities have you had?

What a great feeling that must have been. I especially like it that you are so open and willing to share a little bit of your Sharona with the poor pitiful non-MINI driving public!

I go to Kent State University... everyday Sprog gets oogled at by hundreds of people as I drive by. Many stop and point! Sprog #2 will probably be less conspicuous... being dark silver and all.

I was at my local Irish Pub this weekend sitting out on the porch enjoying the nice evening when I saw a guy taking pictures of MINI ME. When I walked out to talk to him, he said he was a British sailor in Port for the weekend and just loved the sight of MINI ME out in front of the Pub. He said it was a nice piece of home here in the states.

I am a show-off every day!

Most recently, 2 friends and I went to a party on Saturday night and the guy who was having it came downstairs to show us where to park. He leaned in the MINI and goes "is this YOUR car??" and then was gushing about how cool it was. I still get the best reactions all the time and I've had her for 4 months!

One of our first weekends with Maxine, we went down to Laguna Seca for the CART races, hoping to show her off to our friends and other car enthusiasts. As we were parking in the grass lot, the lady directing us into the parking spot asked, "this is the new MINI?! How cute! Let's go park it up front"

So she directs us to the "special car" parking, and we're just beaming as we leave our modest Maxine next to Corvettes, Porsches, and Mercedes right up front for everbody to see as they pull into the lot..

On July 4th weekend my town hosts a Harley Davidson Rally. They close the main street on Sat. and Sun. so the bikes can park on both sides and down the middle. On Friday the steet is still open and filled with loud bikes and bikers along with the regular public. I decided to show my new (22 days old - at that time) MCS. IT WAS GREAT!! It was like a mini-parade. Heads turning on both sides of the street, large bikes riding up on either side of me to get a better look. A whole lotta thumbs up and appreciative head-nods. Bikers trying to shout over the exhaust of their bikes to ask questions. I couldn't have asked for a better response.

I've got two storys:
First time I drove new MCS to country club where I belong (lots of expensive cars there) the valet took my Mini and parked it under the covered entry at the front door where a golf cart for use by the valet normally sits. No full size car would fit there, but Mini did. Everyone entering or leaving couldn't help but to see it. In an hour, I was a celebrity, holding court at the bar, spouting technical details about Mini.

Few weeks later meeting friends for diner at a resturant, I pulled up in Mini to find a group of drop-dead gorgeous highschool girls in homecoming prom dresses taking pictures of each other. Mini stops them in their collective tracks. One of the heartbreakers in a dress that looked like just gold spraypaint said "I like your car!" to which I replied "I like your dress!"

Motor On!

Pure silver MCS, all packages, Lapis, Nav system, black grills. Plate: ME MINI (Ohio)

'Nother Story:

I just returned from getting snows installed at a Toronto area tire and wheel wholesaler. The joint was lined up with guys getting snows put on their various cars and SUVs. (Man, I HATE those things!).

4 different guys and two tire techies came over to talk about the MINI. One guys is trying to get his wife to give up her Jeep for an MCS. Another guy is over from England and had an original in the '60s. They poured over the car. They loved the interior.

I guess we'll have to get used to the adulation. Gee, won't that be hard?

My new MCS has been an absolute hit with all of my clients, none of which have crashed my pride and joy yet, I keep telling myself that it's just a car, it's just a car as they drive it as fast as I do and grin like cheshire cats. We also used my Mini as a prop at our recent Christmas party, it was much adored. The tinsel and the gold tree in the window wasn't my idea, but the fake number plates and the Santa was.

The Mini is just too cool.
