Head Rebuild

Don't know what happened, car sat for most of the winter with a bad fuel pump. Changed the pump, then found out my exhaust manifold was bad, broken in two parts. Replaced the exhaust manifold, ran great for a day, then the P0301 code popped up with the DSC light. Changed wires, plugs, code persisted. Pulled the fuel injectors and replaced #1 with a new injector. Same problem. I just ordered a compression tester, but I'm afraid it will just confirm what I already suspect, "Burnt Valve". Since I will be removing the head, figured I'd go with mild boost in performance, new CAM 380cc Injectors. Something that I won;t have to get a tune right away. Nothing crazy, I am on a budget Anyone have any suggestions on who could rebuild the head or swap?
Thanx in advance

Quick search online suggests a leakdown test, as you can still show good compression while having a knackered head (or piston rings).

What's your budget and who's doing the work?

I'd get that leakdown performed first to ensure that your problem is indeed within the head (and not the aforementioned piston rings). If that checks, then source an OE head wherever (eBay, Craigslist) and then do some mild exhaust porting (gasket match) yourself and make a "JCW" head. Anything beyond that's going to require tuning, especially if you get a head that really flows and add a cam.

These engines will handle intake, headers, exhaust, 380's, and W/M for temps without requiring a tune. Some apparently can handle a cam, while others have issues, not sure what makes the difference from my limited research.
