R50/53 EWS location on 2004 r50 with CVT
EWS location on 2004 r50 with CVT
Hi guys. Took on a 100K project car with a CVT. No start tho all works inside and the starter works with a remote switch. Notes from PO said there might be an EWS issue. The key doesn't beep when held near the ign ring either. I thought I'd start by checking EWS voltage but can't find any mention of location online. There are services that offers sync of DME/EMS/key that also offer IMMO delete. How does that affect starting. Thanks for any help. Being an old school guy all the newer electronics make my head spin. Love how Minis drive tho
Cheers, Ron.

Found the EWS by chance, hiding behind a wiring loom next to the fusebox on the driver's kickpanel. Anyone have any info on that IMMO delete some services provide, in terms of operation? Maybe that would prevent a few no start problems? Cheers, Ron.
might need pro help
I had this happen to my R53. My EWS got fried somehow, new ones can only be ordered from Mini because they are VIN specific. Also they said they had to program it as well after it was installed. Part was around $350 and there was a another $300 for labor.
With all that being said, I hate taking my car to a mechanic because I can do most of the work myself and they charge a ton. But at least this one is only an hour or two's worth of labor and most people don't have the right software to be able to program that stuff. Best of luck.
