Fuji made a Prototype LSD for the SVT Focus Competition Edition Concept car. So MINI might have gone after them to make a final product. But i still don't see why it wouldn't be a Quaife since Quaife dropped the price of the MTX-75's LSD to $595 when Ford made it a high production item for the Focus RS.

We could get an answer if someone would answer my question from my previous post.

Never having pulled a tranny out of a MINI, I'm have no knowledge. But would it really be that much more labor time than the JCW install?

Anyone have a contact at Tuner Transformation? They put an LSD in an MCS last season

There are many types of LSD. The one I had in a 1970's Chevy Vega was very noticable on slippery surfaces. It acted like a locked axel, until you put enough torque on it to cause some limited slip between the rear wheels.

It made going straight ahead in snow easy. It made turning difficult. The (rear wheel drive) car wanted to go straight. I had to accelerate to either over come the positraction, or accelerate enough to bring the back end around, in order to turn on slippery roads.

I have never driven a Quaife, but from what I think I understand about it's gear drive system, this should not be a problem.

Has any one here driven one in the snow?

John

I believe I read the LSD will be made by Aisen. Hopefully, I spelled that right.

Sure you're not getting confused with the new MCS auto tranny which is made by Aisin ....or is it me that's confused; it's been a long day

Oops, should be GKN not Aisen. I don't even know who makes the auto tranny for the MCS...not interested in it.

Aisin makes the new 6-speed slushbox for the '05 MCS. They make gearboxes for many automakers, including Toyota, so they should be pretty good, I hope.
