What is this thing?

So, a member of the local MINI club found this cover inside her 2005 MCS Cabrio when she purchased the car. She has no idea what it is for. We've had speculations of everything from a battery cover, to a tie down strap for the OEM CD changer. I can't find a listing for this part anywhere.

Any ideas as to what this cover is for?

That pad with the mini logo on it is removable.

I will bite.
  • A sunglasses holder for the sun visor
  • A CD dice holder that is more trouble than its worth
  • A MINI branded concealed postol fannypack

I looks like a dog hair collector.

OK. I'll leave.

It's for changing your tire without a jack. One person (weight lifter) wears the belt and lifts the car while the other person changes tire. Simple!

The dog hair still has my vote for laugh of the day.

Back on topic, could it hold the vert wind deflector that folds up>

Could it be...a cover for the driverside sun visor? Is the little flap the same dimensions as the vanity mirror?

Goes on your head.
Straps under your chin.
It's a toupee tie-down.
Over-priced.

I love you guys! LOL!

I swear I know what this thing is, but I cannot quite recall. I know that I found one in my r56 and it was with the spare tire kit. I think it covered the jack... but it’s like it’s on the tip of my tongue and I can’t quit get it to connect in my brain.

I’m guessin’ it’s something to do with the cabrio top. Maybe ask in the R52 section?

back to the toupe-holder-downer comments...

My best guess is a CD changer cover. But I've never had a CD changer in my MINIs so I don't know that for sure.

So it is a carjack blindfold, and so thoughtful of MINI that it has velcro for quick deployment.

Strap it between the two head-rests, MINI logo facing front.
Put your toupee under the cover.
Keeps your wig warm.
Over-priced.

Welcome and thank you. If it comes to weird MINI parts/facts, hard to find, or strange rare MINI parts or memorabilia. I am that person.
