Urgent: Sunken gas filler door
I have a 2005 Cooper hardtop CVT. I'm having some body work done and realized (at the last minute, sigh) that my fuel cap filler door is sunk by about 5mm. There are two other issues with it:
There is a sizable dent in it
The fuel door is rubbing against my quarter panel
My quarter panel is being replaced, so I'm thinking I should purchase a new door unit for the shop when they go to do the work - any thoughts/suggestions? I bring it to the shop this Thursday, and should probably have it replaced outright before I bring it in.
Thoughts??????
Thanks!

I thought I'd also mention some things I've looked into already:
I believe this is the door part I need:

NMX8653
As for the fuel door being sunken, it seems like they will need to adjust the door when they put it back together, but any suggestions would be helpful - when I drop it off it it doesn't need to be replaced, I'd prefer to tell them that when it goes back together it should be flush.

Yes, should like its was not installed correctly. Make sure its not broken on the back side. #15 This is the scutal hinge part.

Ok - got it! It was always like this, but it might have gotten worse over time. I'll ask the shop to install it correctly, and if I need a new door unit I guess I'll have to buy a replacement part as that wouldn't be covered under warranty. Hopefully they will be able to install the new unit w/out a charge, since they have to take it all apart anyhow.
