Ticking noise at idle

I've scoured old posts but haven't quite found what I am looking for.

As stated in the title I have a rather loud ticking noise at idle. It doesn't happen right at start-up but only comes on about 15-20 seconds after. Seem to come from the passenger side. Disappears with revs, not drowned out by engine noise but actually disappears.

Initially I thought timing chain tensioner but I replaced that and I still have the same problem.

Car was started about once a month all winter but there was a two month gap before this last start-up when the problem arose. It was working fine before the winter.

15% pulley with proper belt, 105k with the original sc, 06 r53.

How old is the belt tensioner pulley and the crank pulley?

Pretty sure that if the crank pulley is going it can rub against the motor as it wobbles. More revs may make the pulley turn more smoothly due to the centrifugal force. The belt tensioner pulley can also start clicking if the bearing is going.

I had that for a bit... it got pretty loud. The bushing on the Belt Tensioner Damper failed... had to get a whole new tensioner just to replace that little damper.

It's possible that the clicking sound you're hearing is coming from the ABS pump, on the engine side of the firewall opposite the glove box. If so, it's completely normal.

Belt is worn out/stretched or it's your hydraulic belt tensioner....The OEM one is around $300.00 ea. but I found one Here Oddly enough, this one arrived the area where the OEM part number had a blank plate....like it was milled out. The manufacturer info on the hydraulic absorber was identical...
