R50/53 My number is up, but should I wait to buy my 'S'?

I'm #3 on the waiting list at my local dealer (put my name on the list in 4/01 
) so they tell me I can order whenever I want. Here's the problem: This will be my first new car so I want to buy it exactly how I want it... amongst the options I want is the HK stereo upgrade and the auto-wipers feature, so I have to wait for a build date later than 9/1/02. I suppose the best hope for delivery date would be mid-October... just in time for the crappy Wisconsin winter to roll in.
There's no way I'd subject my beautiful new Cooper S to Wisconsin Winters. I'm keeping my 94 Camry for that.
So far, I'm planning on waiting until February next year to place my order... though it's torture, since the dealer says I can order today if I want. This way the car will come in as Spring hopefully arrives. Any other ideas out there?

The coping seems to be the whole problem.. At first I was tentative about taking my Cooper S withough some of the options like the HK, or the Sensing wipers, but then I realized that i was obsessed, and can't live without the car.. It gets here soon.

Hey Mike S. Are you sure you can't get a build date for late July w/the model year changing to 03 in Sep? I would assume that since they start selling 03 models in Sep, they'll start building 03 models in July or so...Would you all agree?
And since the website and all the literature says the HK stereo, etc. is not AVAILABLE until 9/03, it seems to me that those will be coming only in 03 models - so you could get one for 03 w/that stuff...right? That's kinda what I've been banking on.
What do you guys think? And then you'd be able to drive it for a couple of months before winter!
