Need help! Emergency brake issues 06 R53

Strange issue with my 06 R53. My left rear wheel is locking up only when I back up. I have determined that it is related to the emergency brake. Jacked up the rear wheels...Left rear wheel rotates forward with no issues. Once I try to rotate in the other direction it locks up immediately. Any ideas what I need to do? TIA.

I would remove the cable from the caliper and see if the problem still exists. Put some blocks under the front tires, jackup the car with the e-brake off, get a pair of pliers and pull the cable off the caliper and see if you still have the same issue. Seems more like a wheel bearing to me...

If that was the brake, it would lock both brakes. It's you caliper, bearing or something else. Take the wheel off, take the pads out and spray a little lubricant into the brake piston and push it back in. You have to twist it back in actually. Also inspect your wheel to see if it moves up and down or side to side to see if it's a bearing.

when it locks up, the ebrake only goes up about a quarter of the way. If it's not locked up, the ebrake goes up all of the way. That's why I am thinking it's related to the ebrake. Any thoughts??

I would also add that there is no noise coming from the wheel. ie wheel bearing or brakes.

Have you taken the e-brake cable off the caliper yet?

thanks for your reply. I haven't had the time to pull the cable off the caliper. Is there any trick to removing the cable?
