R50/53 Name change........
Last time I checked, the mountains around here were still inanimate. We could have given them numbers instead of names to differentiate them, but there is something satisfying about pointing to a mountain on the horizon, and knowing its name. Does the 'World Trade Tower' make you feel any different than buildings number 1 or 2?
Now that that's off my chest, I flippantly named my MINI Vinnie when I got him, sort of like Myrtle the Turtle. Since then, I've dressed him up a bit with some chrome and modified his name to a more formal Sir Albert Vincent. My new Scion xB is named Orion; it rhymes pretty well, and it goes along with the winter vehicle theme.
Then again, maybe I have more time on my hands than Joe Dentist.

If you want to save Poco from the emotional and physical stress of a major operation, only to be undone when the snow finally melts, why not go with Snow Job? Do you leave your snows on for 10 or 11 months out the year north of the border?
"... a rose by any other name..."
I suppose I could refer to personalizing my car by giving it a label, instead of a name. I'm pretty sure inanimate objects can have labels. Anyway, one of the names I use for my MINI is "Therapy". So when I drive, I'm in ther... aw, you get it. Did I mention she's a girl?
Names can be confusing, I've had a couple of legal names, and many nicknames (I'm sure some I've never known about). One of my dogs has 2 different registered names, and yet another 'call name' that is for daily use. But she doesn't seem to respond to the registered ones. I won't go into nicknames.
lot15, if he doesn't mind, I'm sure you can call him snow queen, and/or change his sex. When you change wheels and tires next spring, would that make him/her Pocita?

Oh, and so I can continue to be judged... my laptop is named Henry and my iPod is named Giles. I haven't named my desktop computer... I would hate for people to think I'm a crazy lady or something...
Not only are people naming MINIs, but it seems to have spread to ::gasp!:: other cars
My new car has just been named Richard Gear. I not only named him, but I decided to pun as well!
This must stop.
Car namers are people too!
This is my first post so bear with me. I have named every car I've ever owned, so it was just natural that I would name my Mini as well. Her name is The Chicken Coop and she wears some nice little wooden chickens figurines on the dash. Lest one thinks I'm totally nuts (I prefer slightly wacky), I am a fully independent, responsible PhD holding environmental engineer who is serious when I need to be, but much prefer to have fun!!
blue_rocket2,
Aloha and welcome to NAM.
"Chicken Coop"!?!
Pretty good name.
Please all NAM posters on this thread.

Certainly the universe is large enough to allow for some MINI owners to name their beloved vehicles. It is their choice to do so. If they benefit from that and have a special connection with their MINI so be it.
I never thought of naming my toaster. Good idea.
I do not think of my MCS as an appliance but rather an extention of myself.
I am "one" with my MINI when I motor.

Oooh! I vote for Lotsie! But, then I'll have to make up a new nickname if Lotsie is the "official" username!

You bought property on or live on “Lot 15”. Please let me know if I’m right or wrong, please.

The name change stuff was just banter,I would forget a new name

I have three cars, all with names. "The Honda" or "The S", "The Mazda" or "The Green Car", and "The Chevy" or "The Metro" but more than likely, it's name is, "The P.O.S." or "That P.O.S." or "This Freakin' P.O.S."
Names are important identifers. So, Joe, what name do you have for your vehicle, car, automobile, ride, form of transportation?
Lighten up! To each his own.
