R50/53 Pet peeve with my R53 (rusted exhaust)
Pet peeve with my R53 (rusted exhaust)
I am embarrassed to say that I have a rusted exhaust on my R53
I have been wanting to get a new one but just can't find one that's cheap but also sounds good. The exhaust sounds... good.. I didn't know it was rusted out until it got cold and I saw the fumes coming from the left muffler, the car isn't loud but can still burble pretty well. I was going to do a one ball mod and not touch it until the car becomes more modded, but the idea that I am modifying a rusted exhaust makes me feel like I am going to create a ricer Mini or something
. Any thoughts, should I just leave the exhaust alone, get a new one, or buy a stock one off of eBay or Craigslist.
Thanks

Looking at a Invidia exhaust or a Borla exhaust. Is Borla worth the 200 extra dollars?
Might look at a JCW exhaust, I don't know much about them but I don't want to go too loud

sounds like you will be ok for a little bit if its not loud yet.. have you been underneath to take a look?? the muffler on my mini is rusted and is starting to break apart but surprisingly still quiet..my plan is to replace it in the spring, i had other plans but had to move the exhaust to first on the list of things to do...if you where going to do the exhaust eventually maybe move it up on your things to do list....good luck..
Check out our Stratmosphere exh as it proved to make the best torque numbers, but won't drone and fits right on.

we offer the Borla, but don't recommend them as we see them leaking or have cracked welds all the time. Plus they cost more.

The Invidia isn't bad for the price, but is louder and not as nice fit as the Strat. Also won't make as much torque.

They are all stainless so they should last for you.

I like the Invidia mainly because of the price, if I have to throw in a few extra dollars then I think I might have to go that route. Since I bought the car I wanted a nice exhaust system so I might as well get the best
