Creating a MINI Blog

Hi all,

My 2005 MCS is being delivered tomorrow, and although I would have liked to have gotten around to it sooner, I want to create a blog for it. Mostly just a fun project to stretch my legs with some familiar technology. I would basically document things about my car, the mods, before and after, events I attend, and other nonessential information.

My question is, I've never created a blog before and I'm not sure what the best tools are out there. I sat down thinking I would just write my own stuff (I'm pretty familiar with HTML, PHP, MySQL, etc), but realized that there are probably some really great packages out there I could use. For those of you with blogs, what have you found useful?

Here's all the things I'd probably want my blog to do:
- store photos (in albums such as at GBMINI.net)
- store videos
- obviously, a basic post system with comments
- a mods page which i can easily add new mods with info as well as before and after pictures and impressions
- the ability to do most of this via a web-based admin tool would be convenient
- I'd prefer it ran on PHP/MySQL, since I'm already familiar with this paradigm

If any of you have good advice for where to start I'd gladly receive it. I'm looking around at the moment but seeing as how there are a number of MINI blogs out there already, I'd like to hear from some of you as to what you're using.

Thanks!

-mike

By the way, I should mention that I'm not averse to doing some of the code myself, but I'd also be happy to find a pretty much turnkey solution for my needs.
