R50/53 Stuff to replace when in service mode?
Stuff to replace when in service mode?
Hi all,
So I have a few things I've been needing to do to my car. Green SC gasket, CPS o ring and an Alta light bar. Since the car will be apart I intend to also do the SC fluid and water pump ideally.
Is there anything else I should do when all of that is happening? I already have a undersized pulley and new belt.

If you remove the t-stat housing before you do the water pump it is easier to work on the water pump and pump hoses. Put a new t-stat in after the pump is back in place. On the pump, remember that it is two piece, one attaching to the supercharger and the other separate part to the engine block. You can access the engine block part from the front via a long extension on your socket. I did my pump without removing the supercharger. Be careful with the vacuum tubes that come out of the sc black plastic air duct. I also put in new gaskets where the black plastic duct connects to the sc and throttle body (orange).
How many miles on your car? Have you checked the belt, belt tensioner shock and the rubber bushings at both ends of the shock.
Same with the AC coil and low speed fan resistor.
Are you going to disconnect the AC Condenser? I did not. There are videos on how to do this.

So attached what I plan to get so far, anything key I'm missing? Id like to only buy what I need to, so I've excluded the throttle body gasket for now because the car doesn't need to be in service mode for that. I'd rather not spend the money on a water pump, but it seems like that'd be a bad idea. Will minimania be the best place to order from?
My cars at 112,000 miles. So I expect my belt stuff should be changed. And when I do this all I plan on not removing the ac.
Cant see all of your items but would think you need: 1,) throttle body gasket. 2.) Something like sil glyde to lube the water pump o-ring. 3.) Check with Mini Mania that with the water pump you are getting the part that attaches to the engine (the O-ring seats into this part) 4.) Some hose clamps you will be working on are PIAs to reattach sometimes. Suggest you have some american type hose clamps around. Whereas I could reattach some of the air filter box tube clamps, I was not able to get my pliers in for the factory clamp that holds the tube from the air filter box to the throttle body, ended up using a regular us type clamp. 5.) Snap ties

They usually have a life expectancy of 120k miles so you are at that point if not replaced earlier.
