Gas fumes?

I have a 2003 R53 w/ 110K miles that has started to smell like gasoline occasionally. Seems to be coming from the passenger side rear quarter but not everyday. Also, no apparent leaks or drips and does not seem to coincide w/ fill ups.

Had it into the local dealership a few months back but at the time they said they could not smell anything.

Thoughts?

The charcoal canister may be cracked or your DMTL system has a leak. Do you have a check engine light on?

Both those components are in the right rear wheel well area, so if there is damage to either of them that could cause a smell of gas.
