R53 Backfires/ flames??

Hey guys. I've recently done a muffler delete on my 06 mcs and i love it. but now I really want it to backfire bc it already pops like hell . would a catless header help do that? removing the resonator? (mid cat) and do i have to tune it? thanks for anyone who has any info.

I'll chime in because I wanted the opposite. Mines a '06 jcw that had a catless header, no resonator, and a jcw cat-back. It was loud! Backfired and popped like crazy. It was unbearable.

I ended up putting my stock header back in and didn't noticed any power decrease. I may have but it was probably minimal. It still pops but at a lower decibel. It actually sounds great. I may at some point put back in the resonator but pretty content.

With no mufflers and removing either the cats (catless header) and/or resonator it's going to sound horrible. Just google it and there are videos out there. It raspy and obnoxious. Just my opinion but its your car. You want a fire breathing tail pipe than remove the cat.

To be honest i totally agree with you. i don't want it to be anymore louder i just want flames.. by removing the cat you mean getting a catless header, or the secondary cat? (resonator)

I am catless with a thru resonator and 2 thru mufflers (magnaflow catback), my pops and bangs are loud but not shattering loud, ive gotton a lot of compliments on my total system. while there is a bit of rasp, I really enjoy the sound, removing the cats made a huge difference in the tone of the pops and bangs, BUT theres also now a lot more force on the muffler parts. as for flames I don't have any videos of my tail pipes but unless I hit redline quickly on accel in 1st or 2nd I don't think there is any chance
