Air intake system for base 2005 mini cooper 1.6L
My girlfriend is looking to buy a intake for her Base mini cooper. My question is which one is basically the best to get or if anyone has a list of intake systems. Its a 2005 Base mini cooper

Go to ECSTuning - add the vehicle, and you will see the options listed. Also - if you chat with their staff (instant message through the site), they have data on which ones would be the better buy.

A good intake to check out would be aFe - http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg2.htm#item8. It's also CARB legal so it gives you an ease of mind if you live in a state that is hard on modifications that you do to your MINI.

I ask again, why does she want an intake? An aftermarket intake will not produce more HP or even a better sound on a base by itself.

The DDM intake, as well as a couple of other intakes will actually provide a throatier intake note, which is noticeable even from inside the car.
