New here...
Hey everyone,
I've been lurking the boards for the past couple of days. My brother just took delivery of a british racing green cooper with the cvt. I tried for weeks to convince him to get the s, but he didn't want to hear me. Anyways, I've been in love with the s since they came out - maybe for my next car... As for me, I drive a protege5, which is tons of fun. I look forward to learning more about the mini.

Welcome aboard my friend! Before you know it, you'll have a MINI too.. That happens when you hang out around here...
Congrats to your brother - maybe he'll be nice and share it with you once in a while.
Chow!

thanks guys.
he's up the bay area and i'm in los angeles, so i might have to make a road trip up there. he's really excited about it. he's been driving a hand-me-down volvo for 15 years so this is a complete departure for him.

Mini Fever
Hello! Welcome to NAM from a relative newby myself. Agree with other responses foreseeing a Mini in your future. So many comments we hear about Tootles and forewarn those prospective owners. Fine to strictly window shop but do not test drive. If you do the hook is in and it will be driven home

Please don't be thrown by the seemingly euphoric mindlessness of people who would greet Hitler with a "Howdy Do" like Ned Flanders and name their car something like "Tootles." Sure these people seem like they are on drugs sometimes, but their heart is in the right place. You will learn a lot from the group and ever since I have had the internet I have found it to be a very valuable tool in buying and owning cars. As a group, this bunch is actually a lot better than the New Beetle bunch, with their green alien blow-up dolls and Roswell stuff. They can be downright weird.
Just grin and nod a lot and try not to let on that you know what is really going on.........Being from California, just treat it like Scientology or the Manson Clan, or that Jim Jones group. Just don't drink any Kool Aid they offer you.

Welcome to NAM. I've been here for quite a while - still MINI-less, but I know more than my friend who owns a Cooper does about MINIs. So many options, so many choices. Just waiting for the right combo (RIP Indi-Blue and 2 spoke MFSW) to write that big check.
The Protoge5 is a great little wagon - good looking and fun, too. But toggles just don't go with the interior.
