Engine Compartment

Various shots around the engine bay - this is the condition he was in when I got him last Thursday.

...what he said...
Mine's pretty dang clean but not like that. Obviously steamed then shot with an engine bay dressing spray. A new standard to be striven for. If anybody asks, I'm in the garage.

In the last picture, what is the rust colored thing - and should I be worried about it?

That's the top of your engine block. The paint won't stick to that forever and will eventually get a coating of rust all over.

BTW, thanks for the compliments.

If I put him in a show, maybe he'll win the 'cleanest engine bay' award.

That's amazing how clean the engine bay looks. I just noticed, for example the second image of the p/s res cap and coolant tank, am I seeing a light coat of something on them? Sort of looks like it could be leaking fluid or maybe it's just the light reflecting off? Maybe nothing, but if it's not the reflection I'd clean it off and see if it might just be the cleaning product he used possibly. Congratulations btw!

Honestly...
As clean and shiny as some of the bolts and screws are....
Looks like somebody MIGHT have dropped a new motor in that car....
So it might be more than just clean....
Sure some folks are so **** that they replace rusty bolts and screws...but some of the stuff looks like it was only touched ONCE to install..
Some parts have dates printed on them....things like sparkplug wires...
Guess it could have sat in a heated garage, and never saw water or salt outside..but some powdery looking corrosion usually appears on a few aluminum parts....folks often paint them with silver paint to hide it...
Either way...looks like it was well taken care off!!

Thank you everyone - I shall try to keep it as clean as when I got it - and hopefully make it nicer.

I'm hoping that everything you see is original.

All looks very good and normal to me.

This guy has never been driven in bad weather in its entire life and engine bay looks just like OPs……. Now there also is undercarriage, which is also fully detailed

It has never been steamed cleaned. It just wipe it down with every wash. Since it is a sunny day car for us, the engine compartment never got dirty.

She is due for a wheels off detail soon. I will snap some pictures of the undercarriage then.

If you look at pic number 7, the Alta CAI - is that a washable filter? Are there filters under it? Does it have to be changed / cleaned?

I have a CAI on my truck - but it's got a 'meter' for when it needs to be serviced.
