Rear view mirrors rusting attching bolts

. FYI: Saw on another site a thread concerning corrosion/rust on the outside reaview mirror attaching bolts. Their remedy was to replace them with stainless. So I inspected the bolts on our MINI and found a light amount of visible corrosion on the forward bolts and a medium amount on the aft. I used a 5mm allen wrench and loosened one bolt at a time and found that the surface rust was centered around the exposed head and not the entire bolt. Using a little PB Blaster to soak in, the rust was easily removed with some fine steel wool and a small wire brush I use to clean battery terminals. I will now include this on my inspection list. Thought I would pass on this little bit of preventative maintenance to prevent a future headache. Many thanks to the OP on that other site.

You might try naming that other site just to see is there anybody paying attention to what goes on in here. A few months ago, there wasn't.

Figured it would be asterixed out as before so here we go: www.*********************.As Snidely Whiplash would mutter in this case "curses foiled again". Well sports fans it appears that nothing has changed. Someone does appear to be minding the store. So as an alternate plan "B", that site is often referred to as MA.

It's a bloody shame when jealousies outweigh the potential for synergy.

As good ole Sir Walter Scott said while enjoying many a pint of opaque ale, "Oh what tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive".
